Gulliver's first voyage is to Lilliput where he is a giant compared to the tiny people there. He finds himself a prisoner and later earns the trust of the Lilliputian people who enlist him in defending them from their enemies. In the second voyage to Brobdingnag, Gulliver finds himself in a country of giants where a greedy farmer exploits his diminutive stature by exhibiting him as a curiosity at markets and fairs.
Gulliver travels to the flying island of Laputa on of his next voyage, a land where the people are lost in thought as their country lies in ruins. In Glubbdubdrib, Gulliver visits several historical figures like Alexander, Ceasar, Homer & Aristotle who are brought back from the dead. The last voyage takes him to the home of the Houyhnhnms, gentle horses who rule the land and Yahoos, despicable human-like creatures who embody every vice known to mankind. |

"Gulliver's Travels Book appeals to both children and adults for different reasons. Children are fascinated by the lone traveller who has adventure after adventure in strange lands peopled by tiny midgets, giants and talking horses. For an adult the book is a highly sarcastic and often funny condemnation of man's ignorance, cruelty and pride". by Honi A. at Helium.com
"Swift's world-famous satire was an instant bestseller . . . his vision is dark, often verging on the obscene." --Guardian "Gulliver's Travels Book is a fascinating and enjoyable read and one of those books that just has to be read during your lifetime." R. M. Fisher at Amazon.com |
